1.國際會議
現在,國際上計算機視覺方面的三大國際會議是ICCV, CVPR和ECCV,統稱之為ICE。
ICCV的全稱是International Comference on Computer Vision。ICCV兩年一次,與ECCV正好錯開,是公認的三個會議中級別最高的。
ECCV的全稱是Europeon Conference on Computer Vision,是一個歐洲的會議。
CVPR的全稱是Internaltional Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recogintion國際計算機視覺與模式識別會議。這是一個一年一次的會議,舉辦地在美國。

眾所周知, computer vision(cv) 存在ICCV/CVPR/ECCV三個頂級會議,它們檔次差不多,都應該在一流會議行列, 沒有必要給個高下。有些us的人認為ICCV/CVPR略好於ECCV,而歐洲人大都認為ICCV/ECCV略好於CVPR,某些英國的人甚至認為BMVC好於CVPR。簡言之, 三個會議差不多, 各有側重和偏好。
筆者就個人經驗淺談三會異同, 以供大家參考和討論。 三者乃cv領域的旗艦和風向標,其oral paper (包括best paper) 代表當年度cv的最高水準, 在此引用Harry Shum的一句話, 想知道某個領域在做些什麽,找最近幾年此領域的proceeding看看就知道了。 ICCV/CVPR由IEEE Computer Society牽頭組織, ECCV好像沒有專門負責的組織。 CVPR每年(除2002年)都在美國開, ECCV每兩年開一次,僅限歐洲, ICCV也是每兩年一次,各洲輪值。 基本可以保證每年有兩個會議開, 這樣研究者就有兩次躋身牛會的機會。
就錄取率而言, 三會都有波動。 如ICCV2001錄取率>30%,且出現兩個人(華人)各有三篇第一作者的paper的情況, 這在頂級牛會是不常見的 (灌水嫌疑)。 但是, ICCV2003, 2005兩次錄取率都很低, 大約20%左右。 ECCV也是類似規律, 在2004年以前都是>30%, 2006年降低到20%左右。 CVPR的錄取率近年來一直偏高,從2004年開始一直都在。最近一次CVPR2006是28.1%, CVPR2007還不知道統計數據。筆者猜測為了維持錄取paper的絕對數量, 當submission少的時候錄取率偏高, 反之偏低,近幾年三大會議的投稿數量全部超過1000, 相對2000年前, 三會錄取率均大幅度降低,最大幅度50%->20%。 對錄取率走勢感興趣的朋友, 可參考

顯然, 投入cv的人越來越多,這個領域也是越來越大, 這點頗不似machine learning一直奉行愚蠢的小圈子主義。另外
一點值得註意, ICCV/ECCV只收vision相關的topic,而cvpr會收少量的pattern recognition paper, 如finger print等,但是不收和image/video完全不占邊的pr paper,如speech recognition等。我一個朋友曾經review過一篇投往CVPR的speech的paper, 三個reviewer一致拒絕,其中一個reviewer搞笑的指出, 你這篇paper應該是投ICASSP被據而轉投CVPR的。 就topic而言, CVPR涵蓋最廣。 還有一個沒有驗證過的原因導致CVPR錄取率高: 很多us的researcher不願意或沒有足夠的經費到us以外的地方開會, 故CVPR會優先接收很多來自us的paper (讓大家都happy)。
以上對三會的分析對我們投paper是很有指導作用的。 目前的research我想絕大部分還是紙上談兵, 必經 read paper -> write paper -> publish paper -> publish paper on top conferences and journals流程。故了解投paper的一些基本技巧, 掌握領域的走向和熱點, 是非常必要的。 避免做無用功,選擇切合的topic,改善presentation, 註意格式 (遵守規定的模板), 我想這是很多新手需要註意的問題。如ICCV2007明文規定不寫summary page直接reject, 但是仍然有人忽視, 這是相當不值得的。
