How it Started

Small disputes and battles had been going on between the French and the English for years,However ,in 1337,King Edward lll of England  claimed that he was the rightful king of French,This began the long battle between the two countries,Other disputes,such as the control of the valuable wood trade,disputes over certain area of land,and the support of Scoltland by the Frech,kept the fihgting going on  for over a hundred years.

Battling over the throne（爭奪王位)

King Edward lll believed  that he was the rightful heir to the French crown through his monther Isabella.However,Instead of Edward,the French choose Philip Vl to be their king,King Edward lll decided to fight back(回擊，反抗) by invading（侵入） France and reasserting（再主張） his right to the French throne ,

The blak Prince

In the 1350s,the army of King Edward was led by his son ,Edward the "Black Prince",The Black Prince became a famous hero to the English and led them to major victories over the French,At the battle of Poitiers(普瓦捷),He captured King John ll ,the current king of France.

King Edward agreed to release King John ll for a ransom of three million crowns and some additional land,When King Edward died,the son of the Black Prince ,Richard ll became King --he was only 10 years old.This led to a perion of relative peace between England and France.

The battle of Agicourt

When King Henry became King of England in 1413,he once again laid claim to the throne of France,He invaded France and won a decisive(決定性的) battle at Agicourt where he defeated a much large French force,Eventually,Henry was named as heir to the throne.

End of War

Many of the people in southern France did not accept English rules,a young peasant(窮的) girl by name of Joan of arc took leadership of the French army.，She led the French to several victories before she captured by the English and burned at the stake,The French were inspired by Joan of Arc's leadership and sacrifice,continuing to fight back,In 1453,the French pushed the England out of France,thus ending the Hundred Years War.
