The patent system is broken. The copyright system is broken. IP law is less urgent but also less politically charged than other issues, and the internet has enabled more people than ever to become would-be beneficiaries of a well functioning IP system. Furthermore, the fault lines of this issue cross party lines, so the goal of bipartisan consensus, while lofty, is not outlandish.

Let's reform IP law! Surely there's enough collective intelligence, interest, and clout at Hacker News to give us a reasonable chance of accomplishing this if we put our heads together. The world will be better for it. Who’s in?
