如果你是一個具有戰略眼光，期待進入國際性跨國大企業的求職者，本章值得你仔細研讀。

  英語面試主要考查兩個部分：英語口語能力和你做人的特質。外企會有專門的人力資源經理和你聊天，會問你關於人生、經歷、團隊合作、成功收穫、失敗教訓等一系列問題。這裡和一般的技術類面試不同，不是考驗你的技術能力，而是考驗你的語言能力及情商，所以事先要預測一下面試官可能提出的問題。本章取材於實際英語面試中關於工作的問題、個人特質、未來企劃等知識點，並給出了詳細的參考答案。請讀者結合個人經歷修改這些答案以應對可能出現的英語面試。

26.1 面試過程和技巧

  現在，不管是國企還是外企，在招聘中非常看重應聘者的英語交際能力，公司往往通過英語面試，對應聘者的英語交際能力進行考查。我們對參加英語面試的應聘者提出4個建議。

  建議一：精心設計一個自然的開場白。例如：

  C（應聘者）：May I come in?

  I（考官）：Yes,please.Oh,you are Jin Li,aren't you?

  C: Yes, I am.

  I: Please sit here, on the sofa.

  C: Thank you.

  採用“Excuse me. Is this personnel department?”（請問，這裡是人力資源部嗎？）或“Excuse me for interrupting you. I'm here for an interview as requested”（不好意思打攪了，我是依約來應聘的。）類似的開場白都比較合適。在確定了面試場所和麵試官之後，簡潔地用“Good morning/afternoon” 向面試官打招呼，也能令在場的人提升你的印象。

  建議二：不要害怕外表冷冰冰的考官。

  一些用人單位與面試者的最初交流是比較冷冰冰的。例如：

  I: Yore number and name, please.

  C: My number is sixteen and my name is Zhixin Zhang.

  這是，面試者不要覺得有壓力，面試官的態度冷漠並不是針對你個人，你只需要照實簡潔地回答即可。在某些情況下，面試官會問一些看其裡比較普通和隨意的問題，但實際上是暗藏深意的。例如：

  How did you come? A very heavy traffic?

  你的回答可以是這樣：“Yes, it was heavy but since I came here yesterday as a rehearsal, I figured out a direct bus line from my school to your company, and of course, I left my school very early so it does't matter to me.” 這樣的回答就點出了你的計劃性及細心程度。

  建議三：抓住考官問題的關鍵點回答。

  如果應聘者突然聽不懂面試官的話，或者問題太複雜，該如何回答？下面是一名學生參加一知名化妝品公司英文面試中的一段。

  I: You are talking shop. How will you carry out marketing campaign if we hire you? （你很內行。如果我們僱傭你的話，你打算如何開始你的市場工作？）

  C: Sorry,sir. I beg your pardon. （對不起，能重複一下嗎？）

  I: I mean that how will you design your work if we hire you? （我的意思是如果我們決定錄用你，你打算如何開展市場工作？）

  C: Thank you,sir. I'll organize trade fair and symposium, prepare all marketing materials, and arrange appointments for our company with its business partners. （謝謝，我將組織貿易展銷會和研討會，預備所有營銷材料，為公司及其商業夥伴安排見面會。）

  I: Do you know anything about this company? （你對本公司的情況瞭解嗎？）

  C: Yes, a little. As you mentioned just now, yours is an America-inversted company. As far as I know, XX Company is a world-famous company which produces cosmetics and skincare products. Your cosmetics and Skincare products are very popular with women in all parts of the world. （是的，瞭解一點點。這如你剛才所提到的那樣，貴公司是一家美資公司。據我所知，貴公司是一家世界聞名的生產美容護膚品的公司。你們的美容護膚品深受世界各地婦女的歡迎。）

  在沒聽清對方問題的情況下，可以要求對方重複，除了“I beg your pardon.”還可以用“Would you please rephrase you sentence?”的表達方式。

  建議四：巧用過渡語，表明自己用心聽問題。

  面試者在面試時可以用一些類似“As you mentioned” （正如你所說的）或者“As far as I know”（據我所知）的句子，表示你一直在認真聽對方的談話。此外，你還可以選擇“As it is shown in my resume” （正如我的簡歷所提到的）或“As my previous experience shows” （如我之前的工作經驗所示）之類的表達法。

  另外，在面試之前，面試者對應聘公司應有所瞭解，比如公司的規模、業務、未來發展等。這些往往被學生忽略了。對公司文化理解深刻，是你超出其他應聘者的一個亮點。但如果實在不瞭解，就應根據所知誠實回答。

26.2 關於工作（About Job）

面試例題1：Can you sell yourself in two minutes? Go for it.（你能在兩分鐘內自我推薦嗎？大膽試試吧！）

  A: With my qualifications and experience, I fell I am hardworking,responsible and diligent in any project I undertake. Your organization could benefit from my analytical and interpersonal skills.

面試例題2：Tell us about your project experiences. （告訴我你的專案經驗是什麼。）

  A: Northwest University Personnel Managing System is a system of auto-manage the person's information. It is designed by PowerDesign. The project is a C/S architecture system. It is based on a Microsoft SQL database, and he UI is developed by Delphi 7. In this project, I designed the schema of database, programmed database connectivity using Delphi 7 and ADO.

  A: VC# Casus Design was published by publishing House of XXXX in 2005.10. As the author I finished most of leading articles, Including GDI+, Multi-Media, Database, Web System, and so on. It's composed of 8 chapers, 50 programs. I concentrate my energy on the book. In addition, I attained much pleasure in process of writing. Now I'm going to write another book named White-collar obtain employment guiding-flying with C#.

  A: Based on ASP.NET+SQL2000, we finished Northwest University Network Course-selected System. Everybody in this school can select, cancel, query course in network. The project is a B/S architecture system; the code is developed by Visual C#, and run on the .NET plat. In this project, I used the ADO interface which is provided by the Database program and after that, I joined the testing of whole system.

面試例題3：Give me a summary of your current job description. （對你目前的工作，做個概括的說明。）

  A: I have been working as a computer programmer for five years. To be specific, I do system analysis, trouble shooting and provide software support.

面試例題4：Why did you leave your last job? （你為什麼離職呢？）

  A: Well, I am hoping to get an offer of a better position. If opportunity knocks, I will take it.

  A: I feel I have reached the "glass ceiling" in my current job. I feel there is no opportunity for advancement.

面試例題5：How do you rate yourself as a professional? （作為一位專業人員，你如何評估自己呢？）

  A: With my strong academic background, I am capable and competent. （憑藉我良好的學術背景，我可以勝任自己的工作，而且我認為自己很有競爭力。）

  A: With my teaching experience, I am confident that I can relate to student very well.

  A: My background has been focused on preparing me for the IT field, so I can exhibit my ablity right away. I already have obtained the educational technology and skills. I am confident of my ability to learn quickly in any assignment which I'm not familiar for the moment.

  A: I realize that there are many other college students who have the ability to do this job. I also have that ability. But I also bring an additional quality that makes me the very best person for the job-my attitude for excellence. I am a multi-tasked individual who work well under pressure. My ability to be trained in any area would definitely be a good reason to hire me to work for this firm.

面試例題6：What contribution did you make to your current(previous) organization? （你對目前/從前的工作單位有何貢獻？）

  A: I have finished three new projects, and I am sure I can apply my experience to this position.

面試例題7：What do you think you are worth to us? （你如何知道你對我們有價值呢？）

  A: I feel I can make some positive contributions to your company in the future.

面試例題8：What make you think you would be a success in this position? （你如何知道你能勝任這份工作？）

  A: My graduate school training combined with my internship should qualify me for this particular job. I am sure I will be successful.

面試例題9：Are you a multi-tasked individual? （你是一位可以同時承擔數項工作的人嗎？）

  A: Yes, I think so. The trait is needed in my current(or previous) position and I know I can handle it well.

面試例題10：What will it take to attain your goals, and what steps have you taken toward attaining them? （你將通過什麼手段達到你的成功？你已經採取了哪些步驟？）

  A: I have finished writing a book recently. And currently I am learning a lot of network certification. I obtained my first certification through self-study, so I am learning and keeping up with the latest technology trends. To be successful in this career, one should have to be a excellent problem solver, critical thinker, and taem oriented.

面試例題11：What steps do you follow to study a problem before making a decision? （在對一項問題進行研究並給出答案之前，你會遵循什麼樣的步驟？）

  A: Following standard models for problem-solving and decision-making can be very helpful. Here are the steps and how I solve a problem with a group project:

    (1) Define the problem to be solved and decision to be made.

    (2) Have a plan. To solve a problem, you must establish a plan of attack which leads to a specific goal.

    (3) Solve the problem.

26.3 關於個人(About Person)
面試例題1：What is your strongest trait(s)? （你個性上最大的特點是什麼？）
  A: Helpfulness and caring. （樂於助人和關心他人。）
  A: Adaptability and sense of humor.（適應能力和幽默感。）
  A: Cheerfulness and friendliness. （樂觀和友愛。）
面試例題2：How would your friends or colleagues describe you? （你的朋友或同事怎樣形容你？）
  A: (Pause a few seconds)（稍等幾秒種回答，表示慎重考慮。）
  They say Mr.Chen is an honest,hardworking and responsible man who deeply cares for his family and friends. （他們說陳先生是位誠實、工作努力、負責任的任，他對家庭和朋友都很關心。）
  A: The say Mr.Chen is a friendly,sensitive,caring and determined person.（他們說陳先生是位很友好、敏感、關心他人和有決心的人。）
  A: They say I am an active, innovative man, a good team-worker, with rich IT knowledge and developing experience. （他們說我是一個積極、革新的任、是一個很好的同事，並且具備豐富的IT知識和研發經驗。）
面試例題3：What personality traits do you admire? （你欣賞哪種性格的人？）
  A: (I admire a person who is)honest,flexible and easy-going. （誠實、不死板而且容易相處的人。）
  A: (I like)people who possess the "can do" spirit. (有“實際行動”的人。)
面試例題4：What leadership qualities did you develop as an administrative personnel? （作為行政人員，你有什麼樣的領導才能？）
  A: I feel that learning how to motivate people and to work together as a team will be the major goal of my leadership.
  A: I have refined my management style by using an open-door policy. （我以開放式的政策改進我的行政管理方式。）
面試例題5：How do you normally handle criticism? （你通常如何處理別人的批評？）
  A: Silence is golden.Just don't say anything;otherwise the situation could become worse.I do,however,accept constructive criticism. （沉默是金。不必說什麼，否則情況更糟。不過我會接受建設性的批評。）
  A: When we cool off, we will discuss it later. （我會等大家冷靜下來再討論。）
面試例題6：What do you find frustrating in a work situation? （在工作中，什麼事令你不高興？）
  A: Sometimes,the narrow-minded people make me frustrated. （胸襟狹窄的任有時使我洩氣。）

面試例題7：How do you handle your conflict whit your colleagues in your work? （你如何處理與同事在工作中的意見不和？）
  A: I will try to present my ideas in a more clear and civilized manner in order to get my points across. （我要以更清楚和文明的方式提出我的看法，使對方瞭解我的觀點。）
面試例題8：How do you handle your failure? （你怎樣對待自己的失敗？）
  A: None of us was born "perfect". I am sure I will be given a second chance to correct my mistake. （我們大家生來都不是十全十美的，我相信我有機會改正我的錯誤。）
面試例題9：Are you more energized by working with data or by collaborating with other individuals? （你能使組裡氣氛活躍，並且易於溝通嗎？）
  A: The best thing about working in a group or a team is combining the great minds from different facets.Compared with when you're working alone,communication can generate vitality in the project you're working on. 面試例題10：What provide you with a sense of accomplishment? （什麼會讓你有成就感？）
  A: Doing my best job for your company.
  A: Finishing a project to the best of my ability.
面試例題11：If you had a lot of money to donate,where would you donate it to?why? （假如你有很多錢可以捐贈，你會捐給什麼單位？為什麼？）
  A: I would donate it to the medical research because I want to do something to help others.
  A: I prefer to donate it to educational insitutions.
26.4 關於未來（About Future）
面試例題1：What is most important in your life right now? （眼下你生活中最重要的是什麼？）
  A: To get a job in my field is most important to me.
  A: To secure employment hopefully with your company. （能在貴公司任職對我來說最重要。）
面試例題2：What current issues concern you the most? （目前什麼事是你最關心的？）
  A:  The general state of our economy and the impact of China's entry to WTO on our industry.
面試例題3：How long would you like to stay with this company? （你會在本公司服務多久呢？）
  A: I will stay as long as I can continue to learn and to grow in my field.
面試例題4：Could you project what you would like to be doing five years from now? （你能預料5年後你會做什麼嗎？）
  A: As I have some administrative experience in my last job, I may use my organizational and planning skills in the future.
  A: I hope to demonstrate my ability and talents in my field adequately.
  A: Perhaps, an opportunity at a management position would be exciting.
  如果不願正面回答，也可以說：
  It would be premature for me to predict this. （現在對此問題的預測，尚嫌過早。）
面試例題5：What range of pay-scale are you interested in? （你最喜歡哪一種薪水標準？）

  A: Money is important,but the responsibility that goes along with this job is what interests me the most. （薪水固然重要，但伴隨工作而來的責任更吸引我。）

  假如你有家眷，可以說：

  To be frank and open with you,I like this job,but I have a family to support.

面試例題6：What specific goals,including those related to your occupation,have you established for your life(career)? （你為你的職業生涯制定了什麼樣的具體目標？）

  A: My specific goals relate to my occupation is to work for a company where I can apply my technical and business skills I obtained from college and my past experience. To take advantage of the continuous learning process that goes along with the many technological advances. （關於我的職業的具體目標是：為一個可以讓我施展我在大學及過往經驗中基類的技術與商業技巧的公司工作。通過技術上的不斷學習推進技術創新。）

26.5 其他建議 (Other Tips)

  Know something about the organization you are applying to.（瞭解一些你申請工作單位的情況。）

  Dress properly.Don't take shake hand with the interviewer until he/she extends his/her hand. （穿著要得體，人家伸手時才握手。）

  Don't sit down until invited to do so by the interviewer.（人家未請，先別坐下。）

  Make eye-contact wih the interviewer during the interview. （面試時，眼睛要看著對方。）

  Listen actively and stay calm. （注意聽，保持冷靜。）

  If invited to a meal,be especially careful about your table manners. （被激吃飯時，要特別注意餐桌禮節。）

  Don't talk with your mouth full. （嘴裡有食物，不可開口說話。）

  Don't make much noise while you eat. （吃東西不要出聲音。）

  Don't blow your nose or use the toothpick at table. （不要擤鼻涕或用牙籤剔牙。）

  Don't appear to be pushy or overly anxious to get a job. （不必過分表現急著要工作。）

  Be honest but not too modest. （要誠實，但不必太謙虛。）

  Don't put yourself down or cut yourself up. （不可妄自菲薄或自貶。）
