(Four Ways To Make Your Leader Love You)讓領導喜歡你的四種方式
Every leader needs trusted employees. Many leaders get disillusioned when a person on their team fails to perform or even try to understand what a leader needs or desires. In fact, one of the most undervalued components of the boss-employee relationship is the level of confidence that the boss has in their employee. Many employees focus on just completing the job or task, but they never fully consider how confident their boss is toward them. For the aspiring employee, growing the manager's confidence can mean the difference in job satisfaction, promotions and daily job enjoyment.
Here are four ways to make sure you leader loves you:
1. Clarity: Know what your leader wants.
The first task of every employee is to understand the needs and desires of their boss or supervisor. It is the wise employee's responsibility to listen carefully to the primary wants of their leader. The first task of every employee is to ask their boss to define the critical components of success for the job or task that the boss is asking the employee to complete. When a leader knows that their followers know precisely what they want, they can rest easy knowing the job will be well done. Employees should consider whether they can clearly state the top three desires that their boss has for them in their position. Seeking clarity is the first step to gaining the boss' confidence.
2. Communication: Let your leader know that you know what they want.
To gain the leader's confidence, the wise employee frequently communicates what they heard the manager saying and repeats it back to the boss. Excellent communication is essential in building confidence. Employees can practice excellent communication by asking intelligent questions and keeping the boss informed about real-time learning on the job. Every employee should learn how their boss wants the employee to communicate with them. Trusted employees learn the how -- and how often -- to communicate with their leader. One insight to remember is a piece of advice that I heard years ago from a very successful executive. He stated that every employee "should make their boss' problems their own problems but never make their own problems their boss' problems." He reminded his employees of the right kind of communication to have with the boss.
3. Competence: Let your leader know that you are doing what they want to be done.
Another step to gaining a leader's confidence is to go and do the job that the leader wants to be done -- and do it well. Leaders have many items on their plate, and when a leader knows that an employee is doing a job well, it frees the leader up to focus on other areas. Employees earn trust when they do the job well. Someone once stated, "Trusting someone is my decision, then proving me right is their choice." It is the responsibility of every employee to gain trust from their boss by doing their job with excellence.
4. Consistency: Let your leader know you will always do well what they want -- without having to be watched.
Doing the job well once is to be appreciated; doing the job well repeatedly is to be admired. Every boss wants to applaud their employees. Every leader respects and trusts an employee who regularly performs. In fact, these are the employees who are promoted and trusted. Leaders are always looking in their organization for people who have a leader's mindset. A leader's mindset is when the employee considers all the factors of the organization, not just their own area, working with excellence always as they seek to help the organization in every possible way.
The truth is that any employee can gain the trust and confidence of their leader. Gaining the manager's confidence takes time and effort, but it will pay dividends to the employee -- and to the organization. A trusted employee will make the difference in the life of the leader and will also make the difference for the company in which they work.
