Is spelling in English improtant?
How important is spelling? One British academic suggests that barring any instance of miscommunication, variant spellings should be accepted by society. Is there any harm if the i and the e are reversed in such words as "foreign","weird"(奇怪),and "neighbor"?
However,a number of academics have gotten in a huff with regards to the proposal,English has numerous exceptions(例外,條款) to established rules but with consistent and coherent spelling.communication is easier.
With the advent of text messaging, which favors a disregard for proper spelling and grammer for speed, its become more important than ever to adhere to spelling rules.
What would your impression be of an official letter from the bank with words spelled willy-nilly(亂七八糟)? Equally imporant would be an indecipherable business letter or email,It all comes down to communication. In face-to-face conversations,It is easy to clarify(澄清) and explain an idea as visual clues(視覺線索) and tone of voice help ,But written emails and letters rely on rules to promote quick comprehension. Most academics agree that spelling is just as important as good grammer and that spelling can't be ignored.
