taking app tailored to programmers? | Hacker News

I'm thinking of building a note-taking app tailored to programmers.

I know there's org-mode and products like http://jrnl.sh, and I've read a number of HN posts that discuss note-taking, but I haven't found a method that works for me. At the moment, I occasionally jot things down in Bear, but I'd like a product focused on continually improving as an engineer/developer.

I'm imagining an app that regularly asks you basic questions (e.g. what did you learn today?) and encourages you to look back at previous entries. It'd be tailored to programmers in that it would provide a good Markdown editor and allow you to write plugins for custom behavior. I'd also like to include a community aspect to it, where you could perhaps share entries and/or search for other people's entries.

Before I start building, I'd like to get a sense of whether or not this kind of product is viable, and I'm hoping to find answers to the following questions:

- Is this something you'd be interested in? - Is it something you'd pay for? How much? - Does something exactly like this already exist?

Thanks.
