I had the opportunity to speak at AWS Summit Tel Aviv a few weeks ago. It is always refreshing to meet our customers and learn how they are using the cloud to innovate and solve their problems. On a personal level, it’s always fun to visit a new country even after traveling to 40+ countries around the world.

There is a lot of interest around different container technologies on AWS, and we’re building a number of services to make it easy to run containers on AWS. You can use Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) as a fully-managed service to run and scale containerized applications. AWS Fargate can be used to run containers without having the need to provision or manage servers. At the Tel Aviv Summit, I was honored to share a session on “Mastering Kubernetes on AWS” with Amit Bezalel (@amitbez) of Microfocus.

This talk was divided into three sections: Kubernetes cluster setup, CI/CD with applications deployed on Kubernetes, and Cluster visibility. In each section, I presented general practices around the topic, and then Amit talked about how Microfocus are using it to solve their problems. This talk was a re-run of a similar talk from re:Invent, which was presented with another customer, Zalando. The talk from re:Invent also covers an additional topic: AWS Identity and Access Management with Kubernetes cluster. The video of that presentation is also available:

The general overview of the topics is similar in both the presentations, but you can learn from the different customer deployment use cases.

My next stop was last week’s AWS Summit in Sydney, where I spoke on Comparing Container Options for Microservices in AWS. I have now given talks about technology on six continents! Anybody in Antarctica interested?
