個人經驗 go down 跟 go up 很好用, 當你不知道用什麼動詞, 如 increase 或 surge, 就用 goes up, 像是有一次我去買汽車保險, 我一直想問他如果我一年當中都沒有理賠, 那明年的保費會不會降低? 這個降低我就一直想不起來要用decrease 好還是 lower 好, 結果後來我才聽他說, The price will go down. 是不是聽來很順. 再說一個例子, 比如作實驗時濃度上升, 這個上升你可以說 increase, 但也可以說, The concentration goes up. 聽來是不是也不錯?另外類似的口語講法, 你可以用rise 跟 drop 來代表 go up 和 go down. 例如 The price will drop.
